How to install a .deb file via the command line in Linux-Ubuntu PC


Software Packages are manually install and Configure via the dpkg (Debian Package Management System) command.

DPKG is Bankend to commands like apt-get and aptitude. This turn GUI install apps like the Software Center and Synaptic.

Then Next Step – Download Needed Ubunto/Linux Software Package like dpkg ( .deb)

Install a package

Go to Download Package Folder Director:

Then Start Insatall pack

Example: google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb

If reports an error due to dependency problems(It will download from network package archive) use command –

If want to Remove a package from system –

Like Example : google-chrome-stable_current_amd64

Reconfigure an existing package your system pc

Example: sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration
